Flyleaf

Flyleaf is a tool for sending promotional emails to a mailing list. A business collects signups on its website, then writes and sends emails about new products, sales and news to everyone on the list, all from its own admin panel.

Building the list

A signup form on the business's website adds people to the mailing list. Each person confirms by email before they're added, so the list is made up of people who actually asked to hear from the business. Contacts they already have can be imported from a spreadsheet.

Writing an email

Start from a blank email or a ready-made one, like a new product announcement, a sale, or a monthly newsletter. Pick one of four styles, then edit the text right in the preview. Products can be added straight from the business's catalog, and their photo and details come with them.

Sending it

Choose who gets it, send yourself a test, then send it to the list. Flyleaf sends in the background, in batches. If you can't decide on a subject line, you can try two: each goes to a small part of the list first, and after a few hours the one that got more opens goes to everyone else.

After it's sent

Reports show how many emails were delivered, opened and clicked, and how many people unsubscribed. Every email has an unsubscribe link and the business's postal address in the footer, as US law requires for promotional email.

Where it's used

Flyleaf runs inside the admin panel I built for Superlative Solventless, where they'll use it for new strain announcements and a monthly newsletter. I built it so it can be added to other clients' admin panels too.
